When someone openly states prejudice against another person based solely on race/colour/religion then it is wrong. There are laws about it. Of course sensible people want to silence those views, so does the law.

Blowhard does not believe in democracy because he is unwilling to respect the position of those who do not agree with him. His definition of democracy is a society that installs all of his favourite social views to the exclusion of everyone else. Democracy is the rule of the majority. The majority in your country and mine have ruled (long ago) that racism and discrimination based on race/colour/religion etc is illegal. It's democracy in action Chuck - don't you just love it?

If gay rights became law I would be forced to respect them or at least obey them. Conservatives in America had to tolerate the Warren court in the 50's and 60's even though we believed the court was badly damaging the nation. Many of us are not crazy about Obama but we respect the office even though we oppose his policies. The BNP and all the other parties have the right to have their views considered by the public and if they are elected you have the obligation to respect the wishes of the voters whether you like them or not.

Blowhard puts up a post he does not even understand. The 2003 Supreme court ruling did not give gays any civil rights protection. It was a very narrow decision that did nothing but say you cannot be jailed for five years for sodomy. In addition the sodomy law is still on the books here in Texas and many other states as well. Actually leaving it on the books was a stroke of genius. The Feds cannot do anything if you do not convict anyone under the law and if/when the court changes and becomes more conservative the law is in place. Bottm line, we still have the law.
